Sale Prices at Historics Auction

Post by V Mad » Thu Oct 20, 2011 7:44 pm

There are two Tigers at this auction. This red one looks superb. I would be tempted to put in a bid for this one.

The white one is a different story. The original VIN plate is missing, replaced by a makeshift one ; surely this will seriously affect auction price?

Chris

I have tried to change the link you posted to the one for the White Tiger, which is the one you are talking about. For some reason though the Forum doesn't recognise the link so I've popped another below. The second one points points to a commercial site.

Just back from viewing the two Tigers at the Historics auction being staged at Brooklands tomorrow 22nd October.

The rally prepared Tiger B9472772 HROFE http://www.historics.co.uk/buying/onlin ... tiger.aspx is an absolute steal. With an Estimate of between £25,000 and £32,000 it is in my view priced well below market value. It is truly a superb machine and fully equipped for leading historic rally events. The Chassis plate and attaching rivets are correct and can be seen here: http://www.sunbeamtiger.co.uk/Galleries ... index.html

To quote the latest 'market review' by Classic & sportscar magazine (November) under the heading "Six Early Risers in the UK"....The Sunbeam Tiger - climbing steadily towards £30K, so buy your bargain Cobra soon"! As I say KPJ 950C looks like a steal to me!! A strong case of 'get some in'!!

The white car does carry a non-factory chassis plate of B9473033 HROFE and incomplete ID on a tired body in need of attention (I didn't run the engine) and it is probably rightly priced at an estimate of between £12,000 & £16,000. If the owner / member reads this post please contact me.

I've seen the red Tiger in the flesh when I visited the owner to pick something up and we had a good old chat about it while he showed me around it.
It is a lovely car and really looks the business.
The photos don't come anywhere near doing it justice.

Hi Graham,
Is the white Tiger a 'true Tiger' or a clone (if you had a good look at it)? If it's a true Tiger, that's a bargain in itself too. Are you going to watch the auction as well?
Regards, Robin.

Robin

I couldn't get to the auction yesterday but I am told (provisionally) that both Tigers sold well above their estimates. The absolutely superb rally machine B9472772 HRO went for a fully loaded price of £34,750 - to my mind a snip that deserved to achieve £40,000++!!

And to my astonishment the tired white machine B9473033 HRO with questionable ID cost its buyer £19,850 and will cost that man another £8,000 to repaint and put right!! I have to admit to being gobsmacked!

The market wants SUNBEAM TIGERS

Great auction results for both and very surprising. Good to hear that the Tiger's are holding good value in the market. The new owner of the White Tiger obviously saw it's worth.

Thanks, Robin.

The results can be seen here: http://www.historics.co.uk/buying/onlin ... spx?page=5

In passing, it is noticeable that the 'trade' are now out bidding private buyers of Tigers at auctions..

That is not always a good thing though, some have a tendency to over-inflate the cost to try and make a quick buck.

How dare you sir! What are you trying to say. I always sell them for less than I paid for them. NOT!
