Another Tiger on Ebay
hi brad, the car needs bottom half welding, sills bottom half front wings and rear wings, to be honest i have restored a lot worse in my time, there is also the alpine shell with mint doors and a good body you could use panels from the alpine for the tiger, as for the tiger the interior is there but needs recovering restoring, it has tiger fan shroud, gear shift, engine mounts, gear box, engine, soft top frame, hood bins, all clocks in dash, you should ring me i can explain in more detail many thanks
Hi brad, no mostly stripped when bought, as for the parts i made a note of what was missing and purchased them from different people on ebay over the time i've had the car, as for the last time on the road, i dont know as this was sitting in some garage being worked on, take my word all major parts are there, i was restoring cars in my teens, stuart wilkinson txj7 was my Tiger, i was 18 when i restored that car and i have restored so many alpines tigers bentleys e-types coopers capri's, so don't worry bid with confidence. this tiger is not a major restoration
I have noticed here that Big Bob has suggested that the Alan Bedford built Yellow car "may not" be a Real Tiger?
With an asking price of over 20K potentially this could damage the sale of this well known car and any prospective purchaser clearly deserves to know exactly what it is that they may be buying?
Without doubt a gorgeous and well built car but now there seems to be a a slur against's it's title?
Possibly Mr Bedford can shed some light and put the record straight.
As i said, Gorgous and well biult car.

tiger
well for what its worth i reckon its worth 20k even if its an alger ,at the end of the day there all alpines ,it only seems to bother the tiger police ,and if i new what i know now a few years ago i would just have built a v8 alpine .
but on the other hand any reshelled car should be advertised as such ,it could also be inspected by one of the specialists to confirm it is what it is,

tiger
slow down.i will rephrase that .thay all started out as alpines, and is reshelling a car not preserving the tiger population.and yes both my tigers are genuine .
No you misunderstand me,
As we all well know there a two camps with differing thoughts on this topic....
1 All Tigers came from part built Rootes Ryton Alpines which were rolling and painted (minus engine and gearbox)when delivered to Jenson for conversion, and therefore All Tiger's started life as an Alpine
2 All Tiger's were already earmarked AS Tiger's at the time of production (which i believe Norman Miller would suggest) and therefore All Tiger's started out as Tiger's
My point being here is......is that if we accept that if ALL Tiger's were Alpines at the factory???? then surely reshelling a rotten Tiger into a mint Alpine shell is no more than the factory did back then.
Provided every Tiger item is in place where's the crime?
Or if as you say the Tiger Police are out there then you have the opposinig argument in that.....
If a Tiger is in such a rotten state to the point of no return it should be scrapped/broken up and thus preventing a re-shell Alger?
It's a very intresting subject and one that i found fascinating when i bought my first Tiger Jal number 2
Such an early example and one so close to the development AF car's.
It's said that the easiest way to spot an Alger? is that they level of workmanship envolved to carry out the coversions is generally far better that Jenson did back in the day.
As i said, it's an intresting subject.

tiger
i aggree with most of that ,there is always going to be divide ,a reshelled tiger is more original than one with all new panels ,i know a member who restores tigers and the amount of new metal that goes into the car is far more than rootes metal .
the main argument is the price thats asked i think.
from what i am told the sloppy work to replicate the jensen welding is quiet easy after a few attempts ,or give it me as im crap at welding

It's all about the have's and the have not's.
In the U S it's the East & West coast divide, in the Sunshine states rustfree cars are common as opposed to the West coast where the winters can be worse than our own and car rust.
If we were all an MGB ,Midget or Cooper S owner we could all trot off to Heritege with a trailer and come home with a brand new shell, nobody batts an eyelid and the marque lives on.....
