Le Mans Classic 2010....

Regret to report that the 'The Mule' LM Tiger is unable to enter the LM Classic this time due to late and serious mechanical issues that took the team beyond the last shipping date from the USA to Europe.

But I'm happy to say that 25 Tigers, a brace of GT 350 Mustangs and a Jaguar or two are running down to the famous French circuit in a couple of weeks to sample the usual heady mix of British racing on possibly the best circuit 'in the woorld' together with French catering... and to support the Alpine(s) of Keith Hampson and Tristan Bradfield. We wish them success.

Well boys and girls....are we ready to roll?

Certainly am, well once we have crossed the water to Le Havre. Then, after a fuel top up that quick blast to the spectacular bridge at Pont de Normandie. Pay the toll and then leg it to Lisieux. Quick coffee & croissant before pressing on to Livarot, down those roads flanked by plane trees with no one to hear the V8's howl bar a few cows. Then its up and over those sweeping hills on that D road to Gace and Sees; just what the Tiger is best at. Bit of lunch and a couple of small beers at Sees before whipping on to Alencon. Take a breather and pay the toll before joining the exquiste A48 auto route to Le Mans - its max is 130 kph but this can be easily mistaken for mph! Then the genteel run around Le Mans town ring road before idling into Chateau Du Loir and for most of us this year the charming village of Lavernat, which no doubt wll enjoy the spectacle of a couple of dozen Tigers rumbling around and probably more than a few doughnuts from those of us with ants in our pants still!! Must be my 6th time but this run never looses its appeal!!

Nearly ready too, not been to Le Harve before so a different route this time. Will be my 3rd classic and have been to the main 24 hr race 10 times! Looking forward to a great drive down and some excellent racing.

Like GV, we are going to take a "scenic" route down and a number of us are on the Thursday overnight 10:45pm boat out of Portsmouth arriving at Caen so plenty of time on the Friday as there is nothing on the Programme of Events until 3pm at the circuit.

So on the Friday morning, we'll be taking it easy and following the route below but it's all flexible enough to change as a few in our party know the area well and are familiar with some "places of interests"

Looking forward to seeing old and new faces over the weekend and don't forget the police will give you points and on the spot fines if you haven't got the following (now a legal requirement) in the car;

1) First Aid Kit
2) Spare bulbs
3) Warning Triangle
4) Flourescent Jacket (per occupant)
5) Fire Extinquisher

From the guys who went to the main 24hr Le Mans a few weeks, there have been stories of the police insisting on cash and if you haven't got the funds then they will escort you to the nearest cash machine!
