We did back to back runs with the original calipers and the BCC Thruxton (Tiger), calipers I've been helping to develop. These new calipers will fit under 13" wheels and you should still be able to retain the original dust shields. Significant improvement in braking performance and a reduction in weight.
The comparative breaking distances weren't that spectacular but that was because I had had Mintex 1144 fast road/trackday pads fitted, the BCC calipers had the optional EBC Greenstuff pads.
Existing Caliper, Girling 16 @ 40 mph 19.4 metres
BCC Thruxton @ 40 mph 17.74 metres.
Existing Caliper, Girling 16 @ 54.6 mph 26 metres
BCC Thruxton @ 55mph 24.8 metres.
Although I haven't driven the car a great deal since the caliper change, the new ones definitely feel much better. I'll be able to report back further after I've driven the car up to Harrogate and back for this years STOC National. Anyone who wants to look at the new calipers can do so at Harrogate.
The calipers will also fit an Alpine.
