Message We have a discussion going on here in the states about whether Mark II's were all fitted with painted headlight rims. I've noticed serial # 633 has chrome rims, as well as Bill Withey's red MK II ( I think it's #632. To the best of your knowledge, were these fitted after the cars were sold new, or were they fitted as the end of production neared and the painted rims ran out of stock? The Jan.1968 parts catalogue seems to just list one part number for 1st production Mk II's and very late production Alpine V's.

It is EHP 171C and was first owned by Humber Ltd, registered March 1st 1965 (have original green log book). Was told company retained the car for brake testing but not sure. Thanks, Jerry.

Message Many thanks for putting on a great display of the marque at Cranleigh yesterday. I counted over twenty Tigers. I had a '260' as my first car (BHO 436C)in the early seventies and believe it or not it was not considered to be a classic in those days but I loved it. Thanks again to your club members for a visual trip down memory lane! One day..........

Message Hi Ian. Sorry to say we have no record of HKF 635D in our Register nor does the DVLA. However,re-registrations are common place so it is quite possible that your Tiger survives but under another registration What would help us to trace your Tiger is any factory information -chassis or engine number or any others from major parts. Message Hugo. DU is a Coventry plate and EDU 663C was almost certainly 1st registered by Humber Ltd. 6 'EDU' Tigers were built around the date of your Tiger (28 Jan 1965)and were 'media stars' being made available to the motoring press and to promotion outfits. We have no evidence that EDU 663C joined that group. So whilst the Club has nothing on the record, it is probable that EDU 663C was retained for senior management to 'evaluate'. Message Hello Everyone and trust all your Tigers are exceedingly well! Would you mind telling me how my old Tiger is geting on? REV 509D was BRG when I sold it in 1980 and I believe it is now Red. It was an abused Tiger until it came into my possession in Dec 1975 and I was able to fit some factory wings and upper flitch panels to it before they became obsolete. On my bookshelf I still have a factory workshop manual purchased at the time. Sometimes I look through it, ruefully! What a fantastic, wonderful creation! Best wishes to you all. Message Hello! I'm thinking about putting my Tiger up for sale. I've had it about 15 years, but just never driven it much, so perhaps time to part with it . . . It's a 1965, restored version, but pretty original, all numbers match, but never authenticated. The body is great, a few dings, but pretty clean. Interior is okay, nothing special. I'm not sure of all the condition ratings, but it is no concours car, but it drives nice, in fairly original shape, hard top, soft top, tonneau, etc. I know that without seeing it, etc. it's hard to tell, but do you know what the heck this car might be worth? It appraised for $12,000 when I bought it, and perhaps driven it 500 miles since then. Speedo is shot, but I expect its actually a pretty high mileage car. Any help, assistance or advice you can offer is appreciated!

Message Hello All, Many years ago I had a 1967 MK1A Tiger and sold it to a friend of mine that still has it (Will not sell it back to me). I sold it to get in to road racing which I still do. Recently I purchased a1965 Tiger from a person in Washington State (2nd owner). I have the resources to restore the car to a good fit and finish. I am making this post to see if some one reading this can pass on my e-mail address (fabbro@shaw.ca) to Marcus Steineger owner of a MarkII Tiger, Orange in color. I have seen it on the web site and would like to ask him about his car color. I have my race car so I plan to restore the Tiger for my wife to use. You know the little old lady that only drove the car to the store and back and went to church on Sundays. She has seen the car color of Marcus looking at the web sites and fell in love with it. So please help. Thanks, Kim

Message I recently inherited my uncle's car collection. Among his cars is a Sunbeam Alpine, Series V (Tiger?). Unfortunately, I live 2 1/2 hours away from my uncle's home. I saw that the cars were in fair shape (dirty) a couple of weeks ago, but when I sent some guys to bring back the cars, I was told they had been severly vandalized--especially the Sunbeam, and they suggested I sell them all for scrap iron. I do not know what to do. I don't know if the car is salvageable. It was my uncle's favorite--and I'd hate to think it was destroyed. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Message Hi I recently bought a wreck of a project vehicle - a mark 1 sunbeam Alpine. I would like to restore it and convert it to a "Alger" - ie as close to a Tiger as possible. Of course there would be no question of misrepresenting the vehicle as a Tiger etc - this is for my own use and enjoyment. My last similar project was a MGC damaged bodyshell that I bought (no other parts at all!) into which a Rover V8 engine and transmission was fitted! Does anyone have details of the work required, tips etc, links to a url? I have read some of the web articles and understand the basics - 260cu versus 289 versus 302, need to move the battery box and spare wheel, need to re-route the brake pipes, need to fit a strengthening bar from the turret tops etc. For info, ther is a published BOOK that tells you how to fit a V* engine into a MGB chassis (much simpler into a MGC body - much more space). Any assistance would be sincerely appreciated. Regards Peter

Message Hi there, there is a black tiger in South Africa currently that has been modified only to enhance performance, though has remained true to original spec. The car is currently pushing a power output of 425bhp, which is generally considered a bit over-powered. But I would like to know if there is any road going Tiger putting out this kind of power anywhere else in the world? There is only one way to describe this car. Awesome. I will forward pictures as soon as possible. Dave.

I came a across a carton of books from when we moved 15 years ago and found: The Sunbeam 260 Owner's Handbook by Rootes, The Sunbeam '260' Workshop Manual by Rootes, Performance Tuning Sunbeam Tiger by Floyd Clymer, and Chilton's Repair & Tune-Up Guide Sunbeam-Hillman All Models. Wish to sell to Tiger enthusiast as a package. Have no idea as to current value. Please advise if interested. Thanks.

Message Hello again....Yes I have several photos of EYC 309C. One taken with 13 other Tigers all in a row outside some castle like building in Cornwall somewhere, circa 1980. A newspaper photo of me in the car taken at the Tigers national meeting when I was doing the 'timing circle' at the Millpool, Looe, this was when I had black hair!......Anyone remember that far back?

I have found at the moment a LHD MK1 modified with a 289cu.in engine. What do You think about a car modified in this way? Could it be acceptable also isn't a completely original factory specification car? Could You help me in CHECKING the chassis and engine NUMBERS of the cars that I could find in my research? Please help, if it is possible. I'm a genuine enthusiast and I'd like to reach this wish of my young age. Thank You.Kind regards from Italy.

Many Tigers have been exported over the years and by this posting STOC is appealing to all international owners of HRO Tigers to email the Club with brief details of their Tiger - Vin, License Number and former British Registration No. It is hoped that a list of all HRO Tigers can be published on this site in 2005.
