Can someone advise me where the earth for the rear lights?
When I indicate left the indicator flashes with the side light, I assume this must be a bad earth.

Going from memory I think the lamp holder is earthed via the mounting screw/nut; I dont think there is an earth wire. Try removing the lamp assembly, clean up the metal on the body, and refit the nut with a serrated washer which will bite into the metal. Use some copper grease after to seal it.
