Hi all,
I have difficulties in fastening the speedometer cable on the gearbox.
If I put in the cable so that it is sqare with the box and after that fasten the bolt with the clamp I see that the clamp is pulling the cable to one side. The result is that the end of the cable is not square with the gearbox anymore.
The bowed side of the clamp seems to be the cause.
What am I doing wrong???
Thanks for any help in advance!
Regards,
Peter
Fastening speedometer cable on gearbox
Re: Fastening speedometer cable on gearbox
After 6 years I still have the same problem. The needle of the speedometer is wobling and checking this by driving the speedometer with a drill shows that the wobling disappears. I fitted a new speedometer cable and still to no avail. Only after I have clamped the speedometer cable again on the gearbox the wobling disappears for some 3-4 kilometers and after that the wobling returns. So I guess there is something wrong with the clamping of the cable on the gearbox. Am I misssing a part? Should the end of the iron clamp fall into a kind of ring on the cable of should the end of the clamp just only make contact with the gearbox?
Could somebody be so kind and take a detailed picture of a speedometer cable attached to the gearbox?
I should appreciate any help on this matter!
Thanks in advance!
