Team Tiger action begins for 2012

Post by B9471845 » Tue Apr 03, 2012 10:58 am

Neil Merry will be taking his refreshed FIA Tiger out in the HRDC GTS pre-66 GT race on Easter Monday, 9th April, at Castle Combe. Event details and timetable here:

Lots of historic race action with the other HRDC series too. I will be there in the Touring Greats with the Austin A105, last race of the day.

First AMOC Intermarque out will be Brands Hatch on April 28th.

Tiger attendance at CSCC and "Bernie's V8s" still TBA.

Definitely the slipperiest track I've ever driven on, torrential rain onto a circuit that's been dry for weeks resulted in a very oily surface. Neil kept to together to finish intact in the GTS race, first Tiger entry in this new, growing series:

I don't have any pictures of the Tiger but to give you some idea of the conditions, here's a lap from the Touring Greats race:

Not wrong about being wet, shocking conditions... better suited to a boat.

Only 2 Tigers made it to Silverstone, lots of cars not ready for 2012 yet. The Smallridges had entered but had to make do with their MG Midget at the last minute - but still out-qualified Zoe (12th) and Tristan (19th) on a very greasy surface.

Come the race, the drying track with mixed levels of adhesion caused a lot of trouble for many competitors, but Tristan absolutely flew to claim 10th and Class A win after 45 minutes, with a best lap only 4 seconds off the winning Ferrari 355. Zoe had issues resulting in a longer pitstop and came in 14th.
