Hardtops How much?

I ran a magnet over all the lower sections and Header rail and good solid metal, no doubt it will have been repaired to some of these area's though and I can't really go stripping things down to look under rubber seals, etc!

I took my car in for the M.O.T. Re-test this morning and got a pass

Both Back brakes perfectly in balance now and I even adjusted the nearside headlamp correctly

I was worried I may have a faulty brake drum (Cracked) but obviously not.

Took the car into work to celebrate too, and was in good company with a lovely Fiat 850 Coupe in the works car park

Will arrange to collect the Hardtop sometime over Easter subject to it fitting correctly, photo's to follow.

I collected the hardtop on Good Friday and I'm very happy with the top apart from a slight adjustment needed to the rear Boot Hinges (Hopefully) so the pins on the rear lower mounting brackets engage a bit better with the holes in the hinges?

I also ideally need a new rear screen (The old ones gone Cloudy/Yellow) although it looks Ok in the photo's it is yellowed

Will this polish out possibly?

The lower rear seal also needs replacing due to it being cut to suit the tonneau cover clips on the other car, which are in different positions to mine for some reason?

I will also need to source and fit the rear Stainless screen finisher which is missing, so will keep my eye's peeled and may be able to get one at the Sunbeam Spares Day?

Can anyone advise if the rear screen can be cleaned, I've been told T-Cut may work?

Also anyone have a rear Stainless finisher for sale?

I used Meguiar's PlastX to polish my soft top window which was so bad you could not see through it. It took a while but the result is astonishing - virtually like new. Works really well on yellowed headlights too so should be good for the hardtop window. Hope this helps you.

New Windows are £120 so it's got to be worth a bit of elbow grease!

I was watching an episode of Wheeler Dealers last night and Tim used some Toothpaste and a tooth brush to clean some faded rear lights on a VW they were restoring and they came up like new, been told T-Cut may work as well?

Did you clean the rear window manually with a cloth or use a DA Sander?

Toothpaste and or T cut are way too abrasive. I would not use either. I just used a microfibre cloth and elbow grease. The product does all the rest. Very clever stuff. Wheeler dealers only care how it looks on film and as you have already found that is not necessarily accurate.

I believe the rear and side Windows are Perspex on the Hardtop, not sure what the material is for the Rear Window on your Soft top, PVC Maybe?

Got to be worth a try for the cost of a bottle, will google for a supplier?

A friend who worked on RAF Helicopters recommended it, it's was what they polished Helicopter screens with.
