Rear Hub Nut Thread

Post by Tim » Sat Apr 29, 2017 9:07 pm

Somehow I've manged to damage the first two threads on one of the rear half shafts. Am I correct in thinking that the thread is 7/8" UNF - 14 threads per inch?

And if so that this will be the correct die nut?

You are correct with the thread size.
As for the Die nut you would be better with a split die like - http://www.engineeringsupplies.co.uk/78 ... -4772.html

As you can adjust the die to a bigger size for easier starting and the first pass, on the down side you would have to buy a suitable holder for it.

Another answer is a thread file like -

I have also rescued damaged threads with careful use of a hacksaw blade and a triangular file.

Good Luck

Hub Nut Torque Setting

Post by Tim » Mon May 08, 2017 8:49 pm

I've got the hub nut on now after cleaning the thread of the half shaft up with a die nut but cannot find a torque setting for it.
Any clues as to what I should be tightening it up to?
Thanks

The Tiger manual says 125 lb.ft for the hub nut.
