Oil Dip Stick Tube

Post by Tim » Wed Apr 13, 2016 9:23 pm

The dip stick tube on my 6 bolt 289 is in a pretty bad condition and pulls out of the engine (timing cover?) whenever I try and remove the dip stick. It appears to be located into the engine by a nylon tube and this nylon tube is preventing the dip stick from moving freely.

Is the dip stick tube unique to the Tiger or will one from any 289 (or SBF for that matter) fit?

Also, there is a tab at the top end of the tube. Where is this stab supposed to attach to? Is it the tapped hole in the dynamo bracket? If so would someone mind posting a photo of theirs as I cannot work out how to line the tab & the tapped hole up.

Many thanks.

The bracket on the dipstick on my 260 motor is indeed attached to the dynamo bracket with a bolt. Might be awkward to get a photo of it.

Ford C2OZ-6754-A
Available repo from Scott Drake is the US under that part number

260 Mustang, generator, no air.

I just ordered the same one from Sumitt Racing in the USA for 9.50 USD
