Air horns

Post by pushrod » Wed Mar 05, 2014 10:35 pm

I'm thinking of fitting a set of 3 trumpet air horns to the Tiger, with the longest being in the region of 12"/30cm plus the compressor. Anyone else fitted these and where?.

The engine bay is currently empty so I can get good access.

Halfords (I know) do a compact air horn set, compressor and horns all in one, not quite the sound of Maserati air horns but close enough. I am going to buy a set for ours.

I've got the horns just need to find a place large enough to fit them. Under the wing seems to be the only real option. With my cycling background the horns make the "Tour de France" or Turkey sound. I think some early rally cars used to use this type of horn, nowadays just the TDF team cars.

you don't need air horns to let other road users your intention/right of way, just ask BigBob - a noisy loud exhaust and hey presto everybody on the road knows that you're coming through....

Should the loud exhaust not be enough, its easy to fit in air horns. Compressor by washer bottle & horns in front of radiator.
