Tiger Tool Replicas - Plug Socket and Tommy Bar

Post by BillRo » Thu Jun 18, 2015 9:37 pm

Most Tiger tools are the same as those used on Alpines and other contemporary Brit cars and are often available on Ebay. The exception is the Tiger-unique Plug Socket and associated Tommy Bar. We have 3D printed replicas of these parts which are dimensionally accurate and closely resemble the original tools. These are made from a strong black Nylon plastic, thinking that they could take the place of the actual tools until such time as a person found the real thing.

Apart from the material, the differences are 1: the part number is engraved rather than stamped 2: we have not reproduced the spring loaded ball detent in the Tommy Bar, so it is fixed. The photos show the parts as printed, but they can be painted to achieve a more glossy finish. The items we modeled (Rootes # 1224750 and 1224751) were used on all marks of Tigers according to the parts list. The mechanical properties of the material are not the same as the original so these items should not be used as tools on your engine but are for display only.

The price for a set of both parts, with free shipping via Priority Mail to the US is $60. Shipping to the UK, Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand would be an additional $20. The parts can also be cast in matt black steel for a cost of $260 and will be special order only.

To order plastic replicas, contact us through our website www.motorsportmemories.com/contact and include your shipping address. Payment will be via PayPal or $ checks and I will send details via email on receipt of order. We have a limited number in stock but can order more if there is a demand. If you want metal parts or individual items, contact us in the same way.

For photos check the US and UK Tiger Facebook pages.

I still have the spark plug socket and tommy bar from my first Tiger that I bought in 1969. The number on the tommy bar is Z5799.

That is correct, ksherlock and the number on the socket (spanner, sparking plug in Rootes speak) is Z5798. Those numbers are reproduced on the replicas.
