WTB: MK2 RHD Wiring Loom

Post by Tomaselli » Thu Apr 02, 2015 2:42 pm

Looking for new and correct wiring loom, as in period with blue tape.

Anybody know where I can source new, failing that I will need to convert LHD MK2 (are readily available) to fit, but my 'specialist' says that's a big job :!:

Appearantly Autosparks is only doing the LHD MkII version. Perhaps Rick in US ?

I made a note of this product a few years ago, maybe they would do a RHD version if enough of us ordered them?

Sunbeam Alpine Sunbeam Tiger & Sunbeam Rapier
12 Circuit Wiring Harness $319.95

Designed specifically to upgrade the stock wiring harness in Sunbeam Alpines and Sunbeam Tigers this harness comes with 12 circuits plus relays for headlights and horns. Fitted with circuitry for alternator or generator, electric fuel pump, all lights - dash, headlights wi/high beam indicator, tail lights, brake lights w/3rd brake light, turn signals w/turn signal indicator, - radio on/off and radio constant, and accessories. All wires are American made SXL and are labeled every 6". The wires are long enough for easy installation and can be trimmed to desired length before installing the terminals. The wires are bundled according to location - front of car, rear of car, engine compartment, inside car - dash gauges/switches, dimmer switch, turn signal switch, horn, etc. Instruction manual with diagrams for all dash switches, dimmer switch and tachometer wiring is included. Also included is my step by step installation procedure.
This kit is a significant improvement over the original 2 circuit wiring harness.

I am fitting one of these kits to my Tiger rebuild. The wires are all long enough for a RHD Tiger, I mounted the fuse panel high on the left firewall inside. They instructions suggest the left inner fender, that may work on an Alpine but would be very squeezy on a Tiger.

Thanks for the info guys, very helpful indeed

I have it on good authority that UK genuine MK2 Tigers do not have the loom wrapped in blue tape as per the export models. I will check tomorrow, that Tiger is in storage.

Was getting a bit mixed up with my LHD MK2 which clearly has the blue tape on the loom, so I had assumed the same for the UK market.

You do learn something new

Should be easy enough to adapt the standard UK supplied loom for the earlier Tigers, as I am still running separate alternator/regulator box on the UK MK2. 8)

HI Tony. I can confirm the factory RHD MKII uses a diferent loom to the LHD cars. Black tape and old school connectors, basically a modified MKI.
Andy is supposed to be getting some made but you are behind Dell and myself in the queue :)
