Higher rated springs and are an exact fit for the Tiger. Perhaps considered more heavy duty for more demanding foreign 'climes' but I believe also that some of the works prep'd Tigers had them fitted also for competition - am sure somebody will chime in with a more accurate brief. :D

Rob, did you find actual Husky Export springs - they must be rare now...

Is there any way of knowing what springs you have on your car apart from having then professionally rated?
I believe the springs on mine aren't the originals but have no idea what they are.

What springs does a Tiger have as standard?
Are they the same as an Alpine (Cue Alger comments :D )

I am pretty sure the stock front springs are different between the Alpine and Tiger. Would make sense with the different engine weights. I believe they are colour coded with a paint dab on the top coil although you cannot see the paint without taking the spring out.

I still have the original springs and they have a green dab at the top, which was shielded from the weather by the rubber "donut" atop them in the spring tower. I seem to recall reading somewhere that Alpine springs had an orange dab.

I just had a look at the old springs to confirm the color. There is also a stamping of some sort on the top coil that I cannot really read. It looks like an "O.W." followed by three numbers that are only half stamped with the top missing.

I am not sure what were the original spring rates. I replaced mine with some 450 pound springs from Dale A about 20 years ago. I am sure they have softened a bit since then, but still nice and firm without being harsh. Conventional wisdom at the time was that 450 was about as hard as you want to go for a street driven car.

Thanks for that Gene.
I'll have a look at my springs and see what I can find.
