I think the price tag on mk2s is due to the rarity.a mate of mine bid around 750 but was outbid .

No, the price tag of MK2s is due to a vastly overheated market.

If interest rates returned to where they were before the recession, you could slice the value in half.

Also, there are lots of much rarer cars that don't command the price because CS didn't once give their ancestor a passing glance as he was on his way to lunch.

Add the 2 together and you have you answer.
