I know that the correct OEM colour for Tiger engine blocks is either black or “Old Ford Blue”.
If you want a paint which even the most nit-picking geek would swear blind was Old Ford Blue, then pop along to your local old-fashioned builders merchant.
Ask him to mix 1 litre of Dulux Trade High Gloss Trafalgar Blue (accept no substitutes, it MUST be Dulux Trade!)
The code on my tin is 3092 20D45.
This paint has been used on racing engines for years without any problems.
Ford Blue engine paint
Before applying the Old Ford Blue, do make sure that the block has been degreased and thoroughly cleaned with thinners or white spirit, then allowed to dry.
The OFB can be applied direct to the treated surface but it is advisable to use a good primer.
The recommended primer is Hammerite Number 1 Rust Beater primer (formerly Finnegans Number 1), available from Halfords etc.
