slave cylinder pushrod

After replacing the original 3 finger clutch I found that there was not enough adjustment on the pushrod to get the correct clearance. I think this is because the new diaphram clutch is a slightly lower height. I made a longer pushrod to overcome the problem. Has anyone else come across the same problem?

When I first bought my tiger it had the same problem, even though it still had the three finger clutch. It was resolved by the same means as you have done there. I also had the same on a Hillman when I replaced the clutch. Fixed the problem the same way.

Hi,
This is not a problem with the slave cylinder is it? I ask this because I need to replace my slave cylinder soon.
Thank you, Robin.

I used a slave cylinder from Rover 620 that is smaller bore & gave more travel.

Bob,
Any chance of a part number for that 620 slave cylinder?

Probably not the same part number, but mine was a P5576 (Protex brand).

Hi,
I would like re-open this post by asking a question regarding the slave cylinder push-rod. I have recently replaced my slave cylinder and noticed in the WSM that the push-rod has a retaining clip to hold the push-rod in position on the clutch release lever. My setup has a rubber boot over the release lever, but no retaining clip that I can see. Is this the same as other forum members Tiger's or does it sound like my clip is missing? If it does require a clip, are they still available?
Thank you, Robin.

Robin, i don't have a clip on mine, but there is a groove in the nut end of the push rod which could be there to locate a clip. I would take a pic but i don't have my camera at home.

See Workshop Manual:
Section D (Clutch & Propshaft), page 7, part number 29.

Thanks for the replies gents. Mine also has the groove in the rod Mal... Maybe over the years they have a tendency of breaking or falling off? V8burble... that was the diagram I was looking at which seems to be absent from mine. So does anyone know if they are still available?
Thanks again, Robin.

Hi,
I was doing a bit of searching around and found a retaining clip listed on a few Tiger part sellers. Is this a replacement for the original clip or is it for something else? Here is a link on the Sunbeam spares site:
http://www.thesunbeamsparescompany.co.uk/ In the catalogue section under 'Tiger Clutch', part TT02.
Thanks, Robin

TT02 is the retaining clip for the clutch fork.
It is unlikely that the clip you require is still available, but I am open to contradiction.
I have a feeling that the clutch pushrod will function perfectly well without this clip.

Thanks for the reply, but I was kind of hoping that it was for the rod. We will see if anyone else has any input though. I took my Tiger around the block today and everything seems to be working just fine with no leaks any more.
Regards, Robin.

another route... I put a CNC slave cylinder with a wilwood clutch master clyinder. I had to fabricate a braket to work with my scatter sheild. It works reaally well with my 10 1/2 centerforce dual friction clutch. cnc part $53 US and master $65US,braided line $35. 2x3 1/4 inch steel angle to fab braket
