Holley Carb Power Valve

Post by Tim » Sat Jun 04, 2011 9:52 pm

Hi,

What are the symptoms of a blown power valve on a Holley 4150? I'm still trying to get my car to run correctly but I don't want to strip the carb unless I have to.

However to get maximum manifold vacuum the idle mixture screws only have to be about one eight of a turn out, so I wondered if there as a problem with power enrichment circuit.

Thanks

Tim, I found this info on the Holly web site.

If you have a carburetor older than 1992 (or you have experienced an extreme backfire) and expect a blown power valve,
use this simple test. TEST: At idle turn your idle mixture screws
(found on the side of the metering block) all the way in. If your
engine dies the power valve is not blown.
