Specialist Machining

Post by V8 burble » Sun Oct 31, 2010 7:51 am

After a 27 year absence I have rejoined STOC. Some of the more “senior” (i.e. decrepit) club members may well remember me. Andy Carter has done a superb body restoration on the prototype Tiger featured in CW No 63. I purchased the car (ex-George Brutton) from my old mate Derek Cooper.
Under my alias of “V8 burble”, I wrote the article below called “Limited Slip Differential (Winter project)”. In that article I referred to an American-designed Tiger rear hub puller, which I had specially made. This was done by my local machine shop, J S Engineering, owned by Jeff Skitt. The hub puller is just a small example of Jeff's specialist “one-off” machining work. He does a lot of work for the local rally boys including the shortening or widening of Atlas/Mexico/Salisbury 4HA rear axles
(plus rear discs and handbrake), fabrication of axle location arms, brake and suspension components etc.
Jeff is a first-class precision machinist with many years experience and I can thoroughly recommend him to club members.
Jeff is due to have his website published shortly but in the meantime he can be contacted on: 01239 810 995.
