Brake Cylinder Clips.

Post by martin172 » Wed Oct 27, 2010 9:13 pm

Hi guys, it's help time again.

I have taken my rear brakes apart to give them a clean and a lick of paint.

When I took the clips that hold the brake cylinders on off I found that they were broken and so I can't re-use them.

This is what came off....

I bought some nice shiny new replacements....

When I took the clips off, this fell out too...

Now, the problem I have is that I don't know the orientation of the clips for when I put them back on.
The manual isn't much help and neither is the parts catalogue.

The part in the 3rd picture isn't mentioned and so I don't know what it does.

I wondered if one of you guys could help me with this and any photos of the orientation would be wonderful.

Many Thanks!!!! :D

Hi Martin.

Nice timing on the post. I have been doing the same. I only have one of each for the two sides. I wondered why one side was loose. I didn't notice the clips are different  . I would say looking at your pic's that one clip sits under the other. I think the dimples in one clip must fit into the holes on the other. As for yoyur third pic :?:
I removed mine and have taken a pic.

Hi Mal, it looks like we'll both gain from this one then. :D

I should point out that the clip in the 3rd photo is broken. I think it should be a continuous loop.

I've tried fitting them with the dimples in the holes but when I moved the cylinder, which the manual says it should be able to do, they dissassemble themselves.
Hopefully, if I can find the correct positioning, they will stay in position.

Thanks for the pic btw. Much appreciated.
