rear sill join

Post by Mal » Sat Aug 07, 2010 11:52 pm

Did the earlier bodies ever have the join leaded where the rear of the sill meets the front of the rear gaurd. My panel beater wants me to find him a good photo as he wants to do it correctly. Mine had been welded and bogged. I have been trying to find a good close up on the net. Some look smooth, but could be just the photo.
Thanks Mal

Mal,

I'm not 100% sure of where exactly you are talking.. so will do a quick outline as to the leading:

On the MKI cars with round corner doors, bonnet, boot:

Leaded:

Joints on the front scuttle panel to front gueards
Joints for the rear sill to the middle sill (rear of doors)
Joints on the rear scutlle to rear guards (all cars)
Joints on the rear valence to rear guards (all)

*The joint bwteen the front sill and middle sill (front of the dorr) was not leaded (it was on S1-3 Alpines) so to be correct that is not filled.. though it looks MUCH nicer if it is.
