they were from other rootes cars. late model minx i think and maybe more. the vertical link is the same but the spindle comes out higher up, lowering the front of the car without shortening suspension travel and allowing more clearance of the upper wishbone for large wheels. i have comparison photos if you're interested.

Looks like you have opened a can of worms, after googling seems to be a lot of discussion over spindles, positioning of Tiger steering rack and Ackerman angles

Dales replacement suspension looks fantastic, but at a price.

Dales kit is a very nice bit of work.. with lots of hours in development. The toyzjunkie one from bonb was what started all these after market options.. and is meant to be very impressive. Joel Griffiths in the USA has been building his won version too.

All these are designed to help not only with steering, but ride, handling and braking.. not to mention strength and weight.

I guess to get back to Jeff's post.. the drop spindles place the mounting point higher up on the front spindle effectively lowering the body down onto the car without changing geometry etc...

Jeff, i will send you a picture on monday of the 2 next to each other.. they were available on many late model hillman products (as in last series of minxes etc)

Red Race Tiger

Raised pin heights

The pin location on the hub carriers being discussed are indeed 1,1/4 higher up the castings than the standard Alpine/Tiger one's. These will instantly lower the car without any alterations. Suspension/steering geometry should also remain unaltered.
These were definately something that was on my "Wanted" list when i began designing my front subframe, steering and brakes, which is pretty much finished now.

I was lucky enough to source three pairs from a man in the know,
and i'm told that any "Audax" car fitted with 15" wheels will have these hub castings fitted.

Thanks Owain for the direct comparison pic, that would certainly be quite a noticeable difference to the ride height

So we are looking for late Minx parts
