Wheel hop and traction
Wheel hop and traction
It seems wheel hop is a common thing for our Tigers. Traction could also be enhanced as well. Cal Tracs http://www.calvertracing.com/caltracs.php seem to be the best at contolling wheel hop and providing the best traction for leaf spring cars. They don't make them for our Tigers. I found these plans to build your own on the net. I thought some may be interested. I have posted the link.

A good guide to rear suspension arrangements is found here:

Description and photo of a 5 link rear kit for Morris 1000:

The early Mk1 and Mk2 Ford Escorts often used 5 link arrangements for rallying.
Basically you have two choices.
Keep the leaf springs and use traction bars LAT-5 or LAT-6 (or similar):

Alternatively scrap the leaf springs and go with a much more efficient and much more expensive coilover set-up plus 4 or 5 links.

rear end remains quite supple and predictable compared to rigid bars too.
Aren't you running anti tramp shocks as well? Which are like a traction bar? i have Dales rear springs and 195 series tyres on the back and i can still bounce the axel if i get into it a little to early...

Hi,
I've got a set of original factory anti tramp shocks and bracketry hung on the wall in my garage...
(don't know if they were optional extra's or had a LAT no;?)
they are fitted horizontly at the side of the leaf spring to dampen spring wind up.
there was a article about them in the Cats Whiskers a bit back.....
D...
THERE'S NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT!!!!!!
