Brake light switch

Post by PGWoking » Sun Nov 22, 2020 5:08 pm

Hi - Mark I

1. My brake lights only come on when I brake hard. Looked for switch, which I expected to be on the pedal, but couldn't find it. Help! Mark I

2. And While I am here, the LH headlight comes on but is dim. Tried swapping and not the sealed beam unit. Checked voltage and saying 12V. it is the same on dipped and main. Any ideas?

3. Also, how much oil should a Tiger drip?

Thanks in advance.

You will find brake switch in engine compartment, follow brake line from master cylinder or servo,it’s screwed into 4 way connector.your lights could be a back earth, remove earth wire and clean it.tigers are not too bad on oil leaks, where are yours?

The switch itself could be failing too and the available new ones are often made in China and fail after a short time also. Even with the Lucas-name on the boxes (green/white boxes instead of the original red boxes).

Peter
