oil filter pipe

Post by ksherlock » Sun May 28, 2017 5:06 pm

Is there a recommended position for the curved pipe on the oil filter assembly? Mine is between the oil filter and the water pump but on my first tiger back in 1969 I am sure that it was between the oil filter and the header tank. At the moment the rubber part of the pipe is only about 10mm from the fan which is a bit worrying.

I suspect that the standard position for the hose was between the filter and water pump, possibly to keep it out of the way of the steering column on LHD cars.

I have mine between the filter and the header tank to keep it away from that pesky fan.

I think peace of mind plays a bigger part in the fitting of things like this than correct does.

Thanks. I will change the position. Yours looks like a new pipe.

Yeah, they are new.

The old ones were knackered so I got a new set from Sunbeam Spares.

Not cheap but very good quality so should last for a long time.
