Iridium Spark Plugs

Does anyone use iridium spark plugs in their Tiger?

Iridium plugs are supposed to last at least four times longer than standard copper cored plugs, they also claim to improve power and economy.

They cost around four times more than copper plugs so there may not be any financial advantage, however not having to change the plugs for 60 - 80 thousand miles could be beneficial given how difficult it is to change the plugs on a Tiger.

As far as I can find out NGK WR5IX should fit the Tiger.

Any comments?

Just seen this post Lou, I had iridium for a short while.

They were prone on 'fouling' quite easily, perhaps as I prefer to run a rich setup and John Sleath didn't rate them at all! So out they came.

I've also read on a few forums, that the iridium tip can break off which makes a mess of the piston rings/bores.

I'm back on the copper core plugs, cheap as chips and just as good on the rolling road with an MSD wired up.

Hi Tony, thanks for the feedback.

Maybe Platinum plugs might be a compromise as they are supposed to have double the life of standard ones.
