289 Hipo
My 289 5 bolt engine (HiPo) is fitted with 351 heads that are ported and feed into LAT headers.
Inlet manifold is an Edelbrock F4B.
Holley 650 double pumper carb now leaks and could do with a rebuild.
So, should I take the opportunity to reduce carb size to something more commensurate with touring, and occasional hooligan stuff?
if so, what carb?
All advice gratefully considered.

Pierre,
you may find that a 600 cfm Holley with a vac secondary would be better for fuel consumption.
Most of the driving time you will be using the primaries and when engine demand is there, the secondaries will come into play.

Indeed, but the only thing to be aware of when bolting modern 'go faster' kit is it adds another dimension to the reliability of the setup. If you are thinking of say foreign trips into Europe, then you'll need to be aware of all the spares to take with you. I have a boot full of spares on my foreign trips.
There is an argument to keep the setup basis, so it remains an easy roadside repair - at the expense of all out power
I'm tempted to go back to basics with mine so I know it's reasonably reliable on long distance overseas tours....

You don't do basic. You like your gadgets too much.Tomaselli wrote:Indeed, but the only thing to be aware of when bolting modern 'go faster' kit is it adds another dimension to the reliability of the setup. Thanks guys.
Apart from carb problems, the car seems relatively OK. However, a new dizzie would probably not come amiss.
Garage construction coming together, ceiling, lights and loft almost complete.
Looking forward to working on the Tiger under cover.
Maybe I could then sneak in a secret performance upgrade or two!
