replacing front bush in rear springs

Post by alpine5gt » Sun Jan 10, 2016 9:42 am

Can anyone supply or point me in the right direction to source a short length of pipe, 47mm or 1.27/32" in outside diameter. I need to replace the large bushes in the front of the rear springs.

Place the spring over the edge of a work bench or something solid. put the new bush on top of the old one, place a long bolt with a large washer on it through the centre hole, and drift the old one out and new in at same time using a copper or leather hammer. Did mine that way, fell out and in.

Try to use a large socket and have the spring blocked in the press,
If the bush removes to easily then the new one will not be gripped by the spring and the eye is to large, the spring will then rotate on the bush which has an eccentric hole for spring camber and height.

I understood that new bushes do not have the eccentric hole.

Some do, some don't.

Sunbeam Specialties ones are eccentric so they are available.
