There was quite a lot of discussion here on the Brembo brake thread http://sunbeamtiger.co.uk/forum/viewtop ... ght=brembo

Willwood also make a kit now for the Tiger. If you go to their webb site you should find all the info needed. Probably not a lot more expensive than the used Brembo set up due to the machine work needed.

With the steering rack there were some new ones built over there to the standard Tiger specs'.

Then there is the midget rack conversion which Dean had kits for.

You can also use a Mazda mx5 rack if you want to go power steering, or you could turn it into a manual rack if you didn't want a power rack.
I have just converted my Tiger with a mx5 rack and love it.
Sounds like you have been having trouble with steering racks ?.

Hi Paul, you might want to have a read of the 'Classic Motorsorts' magazine Tiger restoration. They originally fitted a Midget rack but went back to standard, they also fitted Willwood front brakes.

As an alternative you might want to give Hi Spec in Dartford Kent a ring, as they are in the process of making a kit of parts to fit 4 piston aluminium calipers and 260mm diameter vented discs, should be finished in a couple of weeks.

Certainly would recommend 4 pot calipers with vented discs. The stock setup is woefully inadequate for today's traffic. Can't believe I once visited the Nurburgring with standard barkes, that was pitiful! Quite a few companies now do aftermarket brakes, no kits though specific to the Tiger so some 'adjustment' needed to make it all work.

I hear from David Herning Motorsport that Burton Power do very attractive priced aluminium 4 pot calipers, from the MK2 Escort me thinks.

Quick rack from the early MG Midget/Sprite is a fab conversion, that married to power steering is an awesome combination - highly recommend it!

Hi and thanks for your replies I will give the place a ring in Kent and also its worth giving Dave herning a ring his place is only 20 mins from me and with the rack I may try and find a original as not sure about mg type , would be nice to get out in the car again as been sitting for 2 years .

Many thanks Paul

Paul, don't forget if you decide to run with bigger calipers and discs then you'll need larger alloys, 15 inch usually does the job.

No the Alfa Brembo caliper is 100mm between centre's for mounting bolt's. Where the Peugeot brembo's are 85mm same as all early Girling caliper's.
Willwood do a kit for the tiger, part number 140-11743 it includes hub's. I was quoted £900.00 + vat http://www.wilwood.com/Pdf/howtostories ... nstall.pdf

I just bought a pair of vented 406 coupe discs from Euro car parts for £30. Got the MGB arms for £10 off eBay. Only looking for an early rack and calipers now.
