260 - larger capacity sump

Post by pushrod » Wed Jan 01, 2014 9:48 pm

I'm looking to fit a high volume oil pump.

Real Steel state that a high volume oil pump may require the use of a higher capacity sump and windage tray. (I've got a heavy duty drive shaft).

Any comments in relation to a 260 engined Tiger?

Does the standard 5qt sump work, if not what larger capacity sump could I use given the lack of room in a Tiger's engine bay.

Lou,
the high volume oil pump is the same as the 302 oil pump, they increased the capacity by having deeper gears.
You do not need to get a different sump pan, although a geater capacity of oil is not a bad thing in itself.
Oil not only lubricates but also cools components.
There is not much space for a large winged and baffled sump pan,but one can be made to fit if needed.
A windage tray is a good fitment,it helps to save wasted horsepower and aids in oil control.
