axle ratio

Post by ksherlock » Fri May 10, 2013 11:04 am

I suspect that the axle ratio on my tiger is not the usual 2.88 . However the tag that should be on the diff casing is missing. What is the easiest way to calculate the axle ratio. I did wonder about finding the MPH per 1000 rpm in top gear but the speedo is a bit unsteady and the rev counter is reading several 100 rpm high. Also the tyres are a different profile to the originals. ie 165/80 x 13

I think you can work it out by comparing the prop shaft rotation to the wheel rotation.
