Brake light switch issues.

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has experienced their brake lights coming on after running for a while. I was checking some things while the Tiger was idling and noticed that the brake light were staying on. They were OK when I first started the engine, so it is fair to say that the issue is heat related. Is this due to brake adjustment or purely heat?

Your help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Looks like I am going to have to change my stop light switch, but if I remember correctly the new style switches available aren't very reliable. Does anyone know which ones to stay clear of?

There is a chap on the CAT site selling modern replacements that work off the brake pedal. May help

Thanks for the post. A mechanical switch off the peddle would definitely be an option.

Hi Gary,

I checked it out on Ebay and I will probably order one soon. I have never replaced the brake switch before and was wondering if you need to bleed the system after replacing?

have someone there to help undo the old one and remove put a finger over the hole to stop fluid coming out ,give the old one to the person helping to take the washer off the old one and put it on the new one and screw it back in ,i never bled mine but it appears ok.dont get fluid on paint put a cloth under switch

I just use from a 65 ford falcon and have never had to bleed the brakes
