Electronic Ignition?

Post by zed sump » Sun Oct 30, 2011 10:31 pm

Looking to convert from Mallory twin but to which brand/model Electronic diz, keeping the outside appearance as classic looking as possible? Current set up is pretty much as Sharp senior (Colin Sharp) had it:

260ci
Holley 4brl carb
289 Edelbrock Heads

Any help much appreciated!

Hi,

If you don't want to change the look of the engine bay, the easiest way would be to get a points replacement electronic ignition kit. There are a few different brand around, but not sure if they suit a twin point dissy. The main suppliers I can think of are Pertronix or Crane, but there are more (just can't think of them). I had a Crane setup on my original Autolite dissy and was very reliable.

Thanks for your advice Robin! I'm probably heading for the Pertronix option.

Pertronix in and running fine, thanks to Clinton @ Classic Perfections, after a thorough service visit :)

Hi Zed,
That's good to hear and keeps your engine bay looking unchanged. Did you upgrade the coil as well?
