What engine pulleys do you need when fitting a 6-bolt block. The harmonic balancer has four bolt holes so the 260 one won't fit.
Thanks Mal.
Engine pulleys
Is this a brand new crate engine from Ford or has it been machined and assembled by somebody else?
Your rotating assembly should have been balanced with either a 50 oz damper (more likely, especially on a new Ford factory SVO 340 crate engine) or possibly a 28 oz damper. The damper should be 3 inches in depth, front to back. A lot of dampers come drilled for both 3 and 4 bolt pulleys (see below). Unfortunately, some do not.
You need to replace the current 4 hole damper with a 3 hole version in a like-for-like swap (50 oz for a 50 oz or 28 oz for a 28 oz).

For a non-SFI rated 50 oz damper, try the Summit Racing 163302 one:

For a non-SFI rated 28 oz damper, try the Summit Racing 163289 one:

For a race-legal SFI rated 28 oz damper, try the Summit Racing C4269 one:

pulleys
Hi Mal,
It's easier to change the pulley instead of the expensive multi holed(3bolt+4bolt pattern)harmonic damper.
A while back I made a batch of 4 bolt ally pulley for the later 302(usually 86'on 50oz) because I had the same problem..I've got 5 left(fitted 5 on other members cars) £50 each..

I'll be honest and say that until I read this thread, I'd never heard of a harmonic damper.
For anyone in the same boat, here's a linky that explains it.

I must admit that my brain was starting to melt towards the end. It's not a thrilling read.
