No. It's simply that I have finished ( I bloody hope so anyway) the brakes so I want to get them working so I have a victory of sorts.

I'm being a coward and finishing absolutely everything before I address the engine.

Oh heck, forgot about that! I seem to have promised that engine to a few folk now, I'm a bit of a tart like that I suppose.

Anyway, you wouldn't want it - been proper abused by the previous user

Nothing wrong with a nicely balanced 260, with a standard size carb. It will pull like a train, and be good on fuel......

Amazing how many folk throw on a 'BIG' cfm Holley 4 barrel carb thinking that will give them more power! That's when you spiral into probs'

My stock Tiger is running it's original 289 (never been built) and a factory 2 barrel Autolite carb, and runs real sweet.

Brake Pads - I used Mintex M1144 on my Tiger when I had the original calipers. They are a semi competition pad ideal for fast road or light track day use. Down side is they leave a lot of dust on the wheels and squeal a bit until warm. I used them on the Monte tour and they worked really well on all the alpine descents and the Stelvio. We stopped half way down the Stelvio and the Tiger behind me with standard pads had smoke billowing from the front wheels, while mine was just fine.

Tony, you can get good economy from a big Holley. I have a 600cfm on my 260 with all the performance mods and I regularly get 22mpg on a run, with a 4 speed toploader. I had it set up on John Sleath's rolling road, best £150 I've spent on the car.

I have 650 cfm on my 347 stroker, and Sleath reckons that's still just too much, which was a real surprise! I came down from a full race HP 750 cfm setup.

It's Mintex MGB525-M1144s I will be using.

My 260 has a 350cfm Holley on it. I assume it is correct for the engine.
It doesn't get out much so it's hard to tell.

Martin. I started with the wheels and tyres. Xmas eve off came the cross member, and you all know where that went. Tomorrow I pick up the engine from the Red Barron. 289 5 bolt as the final part in the up grades. Hope to have it all in over the weekend with luck. Booked in for a new exhaust on 2 April. Then I will let you know how the wilwoods work. Set your self a deadline and work backwards you can achieve a lot in short space of time.

I've been at it for 6 years so you could say that I don't have a very good track record for hitting targets or quite frankly making much progress at all.

Tony. Had all the aluminium parts aqua blasted, except the bell housing, wish I had done that as well, may have to get the polish out.
Martin. you know what! Doesn't matter how long it takes, so long as your having fun and your smiling. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel.

I checked the link out and it specified a 500cfm for my engine which is what I've been told in the past was correct. As I already had a 600 Holley fitted, John put in different jet/s to compensate. If I need to change the carb in the future I'd certainly go for nothing bigger than a 500.

For what its worth. I was running a 600cfm on the 260. I put it on a rolling road before I took the engine out, just so I had a print out for that engine for the record. The guy said it was running a little rich on the primaries, told him I was putting in a 289, and he said they would be perfect match no re jetting. watch this space !
