Hi all,
My air filter was painted black at some point but there is silver still visible inside. Does anyone know of a readily available off the shelf match?
cheers

Rootes Engineering Drawing says: "Grey Hammer" but tacks on "2510008 (M-1406)". Not decoded that!!
Hammerite and Rustoleum for spray can paint.
Interestingly the instruction includes "NO OVERSPRAY PERMISSABLE ON ELEMENT"

Thanks for the info, does the instruction "no overspray on element" imply that they paint it after it is fitted? that doesn't sound quite right to me.

My original air cleaner top has been chrome plated. Would this have been a factory option and if so can it be de-chromed and painted? My local powder coating company says that they are unable to remove chrome plating. I presume because it is so hard.

Chrome plating wasn't a 'factory option', all came painted.
Perhaps others can answer your question about removing the chrome.

I would think you would need to take it to someone who does chrome plating to have it removed. They need to remove the old before they apply the new.
