Tiger veralpen

Post by Thommy » Mon Mar 22, 2010 6:14 pm

Does anyone know anything about the tiger 260 that won the veralpen rally in Austria back in 1965.
I'm interested in the color, but any other info might help me.

Thank you.

Austrian Alpine Rally 1965

Thommy

The factory only entered the 'French' Coups Des Alpes Alpine Rally in 1965. It must have been a private entry in the Austrian Alpine rally of that year. Can you tell me the names of the driver and co-driver of the Tiger you are looking for?

BTW the "works" Tigers in the Coup Des Alpes were painted carnival red with white hardtops.

Austrian Alpine Rally 1965

Thommy

I found this about the 1966 Austrian Alpine Rally
37th Österreichische Alpenfahrt (Austrian Alpine) 12th-15th May 1966
1 Paddy Hopkirk/Ron Crellin - Mini Cooper S
2 Günther Wallrabenstein/Ernst Müller - Porsche 911
3 Alfred Burkhardt/Otto Koch-Bodes - Ford Taunus
4 H.Kleint/Gunther Klapproth - Ford Taunus
5 E.Buchbauer/Brandstetter - Renault R8 Gordini
6 Vaclav Bobek Jr/Vojtech Rieger - Skoda Octavia
7 H.Klomfart/Ernst Marquart - Volvo 122S B18 Amazon
8 Dr Gernot Fischer/Franz Mauerhofer- MGB
9 Loisl Wiener/Antonie Wiener- Glas 1300 GT
10 Carl Christian Schindler - Sunbeam [Tiger?]

Mr Schindler drove in many rallies and in many different cars but could this be the Sunbeam [Tiger?] you are looking for?

Thanks for researching all this.
It could be the tiger i'm looking for.
I saw it on a picture (can't remember where) and liked the color.
It was a cind of blue.
You see I'm restoring a 1967 alpine SV that I got from my granddad.
And I'm stil looking for a color to paint it in.
So if anyone else has an idea, let me know please.

Thanks for the help.

P.S.: I'm still only 15 years old. ;)

Hi Thommy

I'm very glad to hear you are interested in your grandfather's cars.
The two blue colour paints Tiger MK1's and Alpines came in are 'Midnight Blue' and Mediterranean Blue. You can see them here:

The Alpine V and MKII Tiger also came in Commodore Blue.

Good luck with the repaint of your Alpine.

Hi graham,

My grand dad bought his first alpine when he was about 30 years old.
And since then he began collecting them and triumphs.
Me and my dad, strangely, have the same decease, if you know what I mean.

I'm really glad you posted these pictures they've gave me an idea of which color to use.
I all ready knew what colors they where made in, because I all ready spend ages on the internet looking for parts, pictures and all cind of stuf...
But these pictures really helped me.

Many thanks, Thomas.
