Team Tiger at Castle Combe Bank Holiday Monday August 31st

Post by B9471845 » Tue Aug 25, 2009 3:36 pm

The next round of AMOC Intermarque is at Castle Combe circuit on Bank Holiday Monday, 31st August. Practice is at 10.35, the main race programme starts at 12.45, 9 races altogether featuring Porsches, Ferraris, Astons, CC Saloon Cars and FF1600.

Team Tiger is second in the championship and needs the points to stay ahead of Porsche and challenge the AMV8 team for the lead.

Some good vantage points near the paddock and down at Quarry corner, and you're only 15 minutes' walk from one of the prettiest villages in England, come and support the team!

Team Tiger put up a good show in front of a large Bank Holiday crowd at Castle Combe yesterday, with Zoe North and Tristan Bradfield both winning their classes, although Tristan's dominance in Class A may not last much longer, Andy Yates claimed fastest lap !

GYU tootled round at the back, nobby no-mates as all the other slowcoaches were racing elsewhere, but sadly Peter Dod had another DNF, with a broken throttle cable, at least it's not expensive.

Championship points are yet to be confirmed but it looks like Team Tiger consolidated second, gained slightly on the leading AMV8 team whilst Porsche in 3rd fell back.

4 more rounds to go, 2 at Thruxton in 2 weeks.

Sounds like another most enjoyable day, well done to Zoe and Tristan winning their classes and Andy with the fastest lap :D

Finally pic of the paddocks with Andrew opting a high tech clever ploy of keeping the competition away from his machine, draping his smalls......

Hi,

Great pictures :) . Do you normally run with the Porsche's, A M's and Ferrari's? Surely they are not in the same category?

Regards, Robin.

AMOC Intermarque is a team championship; AMV8 vs AM 6-cyl vs Sunbeam vs Ferrari vs Porsche vs Jaguar vs Austin-Healey etc.

There are classes for mildly modified and modified, with engine capacity and period subdivisions, with multiplication factors applied to points received by race position (30 for a win, 29 for 2nd etc); eg Chris Scragg in his modified AMV8 has no multiplier so gets what he's awarded, whereas Tristan, Andy, Paul and myself multiply our points by 1.7 due to our mild state of tune and older cars.

The factors were worked out assuming grid sizes like last year, this hasn't panned out, and as the Sunbeam team has a high proportion of Class A cars this has worked in our favour.
