Silverstone classic gentleman GT race

Post by michael-king » Wed Jul 29, 2009 2:10 am

I believe the Lister Tiger was running at the silverstone classic. I heard it was running up the front but suffered engine problems at the start which ended its run soon after.. anyone have any photos/info?

Results for the full event can be found at http://www.tsl-timing.com/special/2009/93056.pdf

I understand there was some oil-breather-related problem in the first race resulting in a black flag. This was resolved before the second race which was completed successfully.

Silverstone Gentlemen Drivers Race

Post by gvickery » Thu Jul 30, 2009 6:26 pm

Just to confirm B9471845's post.
In qualifying the No 8 LM Tiger experienced a breather problem that worsened during the 1st race. Nevertheless Chris Beighton started 7th or 8th, got to 5th in the first lap (best was 4th). He was going well among some top notch Cobra's and Jaguar E's (Revival 'TT' regulars) and was taken off by a black/orange flag after three laps.

This meant starting Race 2 at the back of the grid and with the breathing fixed Tony Eckford drove the 2 driver race solo. TE picked up 10 places or so and completed the race without a murmur!!

Will try and post some STOC images later.
