Team Tiger racing in 2009

Post by B9471845 » Wed May 13, 2009 11:49 am

The Team Tiger UK 2009 race season has kicked off!

The first AMOC Intermarque event was at Mallory, with Tristan winning Class A and Paul Clayson claiming 2nd, both avoiding mayhem at the Esses early on.

The follow-on event at Donington was cancelled due to the track rebuild, next outing is at Silverstone on 30th May where more participants are promised after lots of Winter rebuild work! Rumours of a new full race Tiger abound, in capable hands too!

Meanwhile Andrew Yates has also been participating in CSCC Swinging Sixties events, suffering immense frustration at Brands on 9th May when a clutch hose split on the start line. Andrew is aiming for Spa with CSCC in July and also AMOC Intermarque on 31st May.

Neil Merry is focussing on the Gentlemen Drivers' series with Masters, running well in the 90-minute endurance race at Donington on 10th May until a minor component failure on lap 22. Sadly the Le Mans Tiger's race ended on lap 1 and we wait to hear of the next planned outing. Neil hopes his immaculate FIA Tiger will make the grid for the Silverstone Classic on 25th-26th July.

The J. O. Engineering Sunbeam Challenge is confirmed for Sunday 9th August at Silverstone, with new hosts the Bentley Drivers' Club which promises a fascinating and full race programme. The Sunbeam race has the possibility of some newly re-worked and seriously fast cars offering a more competitive battle at the front, as well as up to 3 FIA Tigers in the main field.

Nigel Tipping had a great day at the GRRC sprint last month, coming 5th in class in his striped Tiger alongside some very expensive machinery, and is eagerly looking forward to another outing later in the year.

STOC UK members are also racing other cars in Masters World Sportscars, Top Hat Pre-66 Saloons, Oldies but Goldies, Austin-Healey Challenge and others.

We went along to the brands hatch meeting in our tiger to watch the swinging sixties and was a great days racing. Was very sad to see Andrew's car not make the start of his race as he was looking good in practice.
If any other Tigers are racing at Brands please let us know of dates
Thanks Jason
