Team Tiger at Brands Hatch Monday May 7th

Post by B9471845 » Wed May 02, 2007 11:36 am

At least 6 Tigers registered for the 2nd 2007 Intermarque race at AMOC's Brands Hatch meeting this coming Bank Holiday Monday. Practice is scheduled for 10.45am, racing starts at 1.30pm with an 8-race programme. The Intermarque is race 6.

Come and see Andrew Yates, Tristan Bradfield, Paul Clayson, Andrew Davenall, Bill Smallridge and Simon James take on the Aston, Ferrari, Porsche, Jaguar and Healey teams. Jackie Cochrane took an outright win at the first outing at Mallory, with Tristan just winning Class A from a fast-closing Paul. Expect close competition again this time!

I'll be driving the film car at the back as usual. See you there!

Andrew

Round 2 of the 2007 Intermarque exceeded its promise; qualification put Simon James in 8th, then Andrew Yates, Tristan Bradfield and Paul Clayson 19th-21st within a 0.4 second window, whilst Andrew Davenall's milk float was just behind an XJS in 24th.

For the race itself, after downpour-induced mechanical mayhem in race 3(thankfully without injury), hearts were in mouths approaching race 6, but the sun came out, aiding the 30mph wind to dry the track completely. Some contenders had been eliminated by the earlier events but there were battles throughout the field to keep the crowd entertained. The leading Aston V8 and DB4 fought tooth and nail until they touched and slid off enabling another DB4 to win. Simon James claimed 6th in his Tiger ahead of one-time victor Stephen Archer in his Porsche, whilst Tristan claimed Class A honours in 13th overall just ahead of the race-long battle between Andrew Yates and Paul Clayson. Even at the back the milk float had a 15-lap battle with the XJS, having been baulked at the start, finishing 18th. "Two more laps and I'd have had him." Yeah right.

I'm sure the Team Captain will respond with the maths as to where Team Tiger now stands in the Championship, wherever it is it's an exciting start to the season, and Silverstone will be even MORE action-packed for Tiger fans, with the J.O. Engineering Sunbeam Challenge guaranteeing a high team turnout for the Intermarque race.

See you there!
