LAT bonnet fitting

Post by JohnM » Wed Sep 29, 2021 5:15 pm

I’ve just bought a new unused LAT style bonnet, only to find that it’s too big for the hole!

As it’s a fibreglass moulding it has a return edge, about 1cm deep. I guess that this needs to be ground away and then the bonnet reshaping (with material off the leading edge) to fit. Also it appears that the threaded inserts for fixing the hinges are out of line (they’re also metric thread!). Any help or advice from someone with knowledge of these items would be very much appreciated.

Thanks. John

Thats about it, centre the bonnet with the gaps as best you can at the back and sides then trim the front.

You may have to shim the hinges to get it to sit properly.

Also you will need to make a bracket for the bonnet support rod.
