Multiple Pass Radiators?

After 39 years of Tiger ownership I have at last signed up to the forum as advice is sought.
After a stressful M25 trip I am trying to 'cool my Tiger' I am in the process of working through the usual recommended modifications. I recently visited Serck Motorsport [who were very helpful] they could rebuild my current rad or supply one in aluminium. They advised that they could fit plates/baffles into the side tanks as this would direct the flow back and forth across the rad. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts as to whether this works or not?
I have also bought a bonnet [not yet painted & fitted] with cooling louvres cut into it towards the rear again any thoughts if this will make any noticeable difference, I already run with the bonnet raised at the rear.
All advice gratefully received.
Geoff.

This run down is always worth reading before doing anything much.

Hi Geoff,
Serck Motorsport have the right idea you need to fit baffles into the side tanks, I modified mine a few years ago and haven't had any problems since, you can either re-route the top hose to the R/H side tank and fit a baffle 1/2 way down, or leave it as standard and fit staggered baffles to both tanks, I've not tried the second method as the first one works just fine,

A simple & effective mod is to blank off the horn holes either side of rad & seal gap below rad. All air entering through the grill then goes through the radiator & not spilling out around it. An electric fan on thermostatic switch is also invaluable.

Gentleman,

Thank you for your response. Paul, do you run a standard volume water pump? Some of the specialists recommend a high volume unit others do not.

I just took delivery of a 'hole kit' [ebay]. Its on the jobs to do list!

I am using that link for 'what to do'.

Regards,
Geoff.

If you really want to go for it, I've got electric water pump instead of belt driven. Means you still get full circulation even when idling in traffic. Never had issues since I fitted it.

Hi Geoff,
Mildly tuned engine with standard water pump, have a look at the classifieds, the Tiger for sale has had the mod done, cooling fans wouldn't go amiss either if you're stuck in traffic a lot.
