Been working on the passengers (LHS) rear wing most of the evenings during the week, to say it is time consuming is nothing.

The outer still needs a section welded in, i've braced it this time so i know exactly what i need to do.

Image

The inner is getting there, it's now stitch welded & ground flat, just a couple of bits to re-do then add the flange section.

You're making great progress, she'll soon be done

Back to the cam, I have a Comp Cams 281 HR, just a little milder than what you're going for as it suits my driving style.

So far I can't fault it, especially the sound :D

Once it's warmed through, the idle is around 800 rpm and pulls like a train from 2000 rpm.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it....[/url]

Excellent, all your initial research will certainly pay off when that day comes you stamp on that loud pedal

Hi Growler,
thats a 35 spec cam, i'm hoping the 31 will sound more old school.

I've also been recommended to fit a MSD ignition controller, especially for the rev limiter. Does anyone have a spare false floor or a diagram of one as i'll mount it there like Tomaselli has.

Hi Brad

Here's a couple of images of my false floor - still to be stripped and painted. It's in possession of a light woof but overall straight. Can sketch a roughy with dimensions and PM you if require - haven't mastered all this online CAD bizzo yet though am sure it would be handy, so you'll have to cope with a pencil and graph paper effort (all very "in period"). It's folded, swaged, brackets are spot welded on with rubber grommets as bump stops.

Cheers, Tom

Thanks Tom,
i have another member looking in their loft for one at the moment, but it will probably be an Alpine one which needs cutting down, so yes a rough sketch would be most appreciated.

Hi Brad,
You're an engineer, I'm embarrassed! It's a start...

Tom,
thanks very much for the diagram it's fine as it is, I've done worse :-)

Well never got the outer wing section in as my angle grinder ate its gearbox as i was finishing the inner section.

So had a look this evening at the front valance, seems to fit well on the inside flanges but is about 1/2" off on the wheel arch, plus the curve around the side lights isn't too brilliant. I'm not sure if it's the repair section or if the front wings have been knocked about like the rears.

The valance to wheel arch fit.

Here's the outer wing plus some stiffeners for the valance i made this evening.

The front valance wheel arches may line up ok if i move it all forwards but then none of the inner flange sections line up.

Not sure how far the valance should stick out at the front, i have a rough measurement of 2 1/2" from the grill by the sidelight to the front of it, can anyone check theirs?

I have 2 3/8 on one side and 2 7/16 on the other side.

My front bumper is off so any measurements you need, just ask.

Is that a repro valance?

Yeah it's a repro, so going by your measurements they have put the the wheel arch too far back by around half an inch?

I think I read on CAT that repro valances aren't always the greatest.
It may be a case of if it looks right....

Any more measurements, just ask.

Come to think of it I think Nigel Tipping had a new valance put on his not too long ago by Andy Carter. I wonder if he would be of help?

Or ask on CAT. Randy Willett usually has a car on the go.

Got that rear wing section in at last, after 4 1/2 hrs of lead this was the best i could get, done better in the past but it will do.
