New grinder, went for a Makita this time, the DeWalt was beyond economical repair.

I have a cheap and cheerful from Wickes.
It must be made of titanium because inspite of over a decade of abuse cutting steel, bricks, blocks and stone it just keeps going.

Valance dimensions any use?

Thinking about it i just need to fit the front bumper then see where it all aligns, does anyone know what the gap is between the bumper & valance?

My bumper has washers packing it out. I don't know if all are the same.
It could make getting reliable dimensions difficult.

I could measure from the end of the chassis rails to the front of the valance if you like but that may not be exact as car body assembly is often just done by eye.

Did you get my pm with the valance dimensions?

Yes i did thanks, i am within 1mm of the door to valance measurement & 1/4" for the length of the valance, so looking like the front wings have been chopped about.

Oh dear.
Do they look like they have been modified?

As usual, any pics, measurements etc, just ask.

Bit difficult to tell as the car came without the original valance or front rear wing sections, though the arch lip does look a bit bent inwards.

Made the first of the 4 sections needed after the last grinder cut out session, it's the same as the other side so it probably won't fit then.....

If you could get some side on photos of the wings perhaps we could get some other photos for comparison and see what's going on.

I've drawn in what i think is the same arc as the wings onto the valance, i'm better freehand if i use a ruler :-)

Hmm. Weird.

I'm trying to think what other measurements could be taken to be absolutely certain that the wing is modded.
It's just that I can't think of any reason someone would do it unless you wanted to fit monster truck tyres.

Very weird, especially as it was only on the road for 6 years before it caught fire.

Think i know whats going on now after a close look, there's a welded up saw cut on each wing at 12 o'clock, before that on the rear side the wing lip is nice & smooth from being pressed, after that i can feel the dolly marks & the roll of the lip isn't perfect.
So it looks like the front wings have been cut back just like the rears.

I took a measurement from the side light to the wing at 7 5/16", can anyone check theirs please.
