Seem to going I ever inreasing circles, need to touch that bit up, oh more panel work, touch that weld up,metal too thin....

It's why they invented beer.

It can seem that way sometimes. A snag list as long as your arm and you're pi**ed off about it.

It's so satisfying though when it's all done, you can give it the finger and say **** you, it's done.

Not that I have any experience of this of course.

Realised I'm not getting it to the paint shop this time as need to trial fit some bits I don't have, so taking it easy but still making head way.

Now thinking of painting it in Healey Metalic blue, anyone thinks that's good or a bad idea?

Paint it with whatever colour you like. My Tiger was midnight blue so I painted it midnight blue from a Porsche Midnight blue

Looks good on my Healey 3000.

There does seem to be quite a variation in the formula of this colour, some very pale others darker. I went for a darker shade.

Healey blue is a lovely colour in all it's shades.

You can't get away with that Stuart. You have to show us your big Healey now.

What colour was it originally Brad?

Bit of an update, been trial fitting things, reversing lights, fuel pump, oil cooler, remote oil filter etc..

Redone a few bits, particularly the OS front wing where it meets the valance, i didn't get that right when it was on its side so made some cuts jacked it to the correct alignment & rewelded, its much better now.

Also put the boot lid back to standard as the PO had changed where the badges go & a blind man had put the number plate on twice.

Just some minor jobs to finish off on the body now & thats it, so been drafting a list of things for the painter, one thing i'm not sure about is the if there is sealer between the body & the rear part of the front wings, would make sense if there was to keep the road crud out.

Nice to see you are nearly there Brad. You will have turned a major corner once the paint is on and you start putting it back together.

There should be sealer between the rear of the front wing and the body.
Originally I think it was a hard setting seam sealer type product that tended to crack and fall out with age.

Modern flexible sealers would more suitable.

i think just seeing it on the back of a trailer going to the paint shop will be the milestone

So far for the painters notes i have.
1. Colour Austin Healey Ice metallic Blue in cellulose.
2. under body same as body colour, not sure if i should put clear over this so i can just hose down.
3. seam sealer boot, floors etc..
4. Front valance filler for the first inch by the wing
5. Seal the front wings to inner body
6. Trim LAT bonnet to suit & fit wire mesh to intake.
7. Stone chip underneath & wheel arches.

anything else i should ask him?

Good to see updates again Brad and great to hear the end of the bodywork is in touching distance.

It must be a great incentive having that monster engine sat there waiting for it's place to live.

I'll be glad to get it in the car as its taking up a lot of room.

Still in two minds about cellulose or base coat paint, one moment i'm sure about Cellulose AH blue then i look at BP's car in Onnico base coat & i change my mind again.
