Goodwood Revival

Post by Tim » Wed Aug 17, 2011 10:30 am

Hi,

Is anyone going to the Goodwood Revival, and if so are you taking your Tiger?

I'll be there on the Saturday, not sure if I'll be in the Tiger.

Yes. The '8' car is in the RAC 'TT' on the Sunday and will be driven by Chris Beighton and Tony Eckford. Several Tigers will be there over the weekend but Sunday is THE day. Some of us shall be arriving at the Pre '73 car park around 8.30.

A walk around the public pre 73' car park is worth a trip to Goodwood in itself.

GYU 618C should be on the Lavant Bank car park.

Great news from 1st Practice - Chris Beighton & Patrick Watts have placed the LM Tiger 8th on the grid
. That really is something. No times yet.

And to post my usual notice.
The GRRC don't allow clubs / marques to park together anymore in the (now) Pre-73 car park, so if you are going and want to try to park up with other Tigers then I suggest you get to the circuit by 8.00 am.

Bare in mind that both Saturday and Sunday are sold out - what does that make the crowd size...140,000?

Graham. that is amazing news! Lets hope for a strong showing come qualifying/race day!

i say this with absolute respect for the other drivers who have driven the LM Tiger (owner Tony Eckford and Aussie (pulg!) ex-F1 ace Vern) but having two drivers who are strong circuit racers familiar with the somewhat "unqiue" handling of the Tiger seems to have moved the car up the grid a little... i would love to see a top 10 finish in the TT.. would be amazing promotion for the marque!

8th finish place - Fantastic race, stopped 5 mins from end because of torrential rain (I'm still wet)

CB started in 10th (9th actually as Gerhard Berger crashed out his Cobra in Q2 - not a pretty sight). CB took the car to 5th and back to 9th after some pushing and shoving by others and PW narrowed things before coming in 8th.

The best 'TT' for the Tiger in 10 years!!

Right enough Gary. GRRC have amended the result and placed Beighton/Watts 7th. Dunno why yet but I can understand the race officials being thrown by the conditions at the end.

Smashing result. The RAC 'TT' Celebration has to be the best classic race event "in the woorld"

Thats AMAZING! great result. Sorry to hear about the "pushing and shoving" not to much metal work repair needed i hope.

Also sad to here about Berger.. he was my childhood hero.

A quick look at the results shows none of the lightweight E-types were running? Did they have their won event to celebrate the 50th? Normally adrian newey and a few others have some very quick E's in there.

Also, what is the best place the LMT has finshed at the TT?

Michael - 7th is the best finish since the LM Tigers first raced in the 'TT' in 2002

The Jaguar E-type was honoured by a sole marque Fordwater Trophy race event. Wouldn't it just be the business were GRRC to stage a Fordwater exclusively of Sunbeam Tigers on our 50th anniversary in 2014!!!!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/22310427@N08/6154102004/ for pics of Gerhard Berger's drive in the Cobra coming to an end in Q2.

Will post some Tiger pics later.
