What engine capacity does it have and trick bits apart from the blower to generate that amount of horses?

Hi Bob
Is that run, with the blow through carb, or did you change it?

It has come out higher than I was expecting. Its a stock 302 Motorsport crate engine, rated at 320bhp, with no mods other than the Rotrex centrifugal charger at 6psi going through a Demon 750 blow through 4 barrel carb with MSD ignition with boost retard timing function. I have been putting in some octane booster & super unleaded fuel to avoid pinking.
But my mate has a supercharged 347 in his Capri that puts out 700+ hp with a few mods. So 490 could be true.

Here are two supercharged SBFs on engine dynos:

(302) @566 hp

(331) @702 hp

An engine dynamometer is the only way of accurately measuring flywheel horsepower. Unfortunately not many of us have access to such facilities.
A rolling road dyno is an extremely useful tool when used to correctly set up an engine for peak performance.

However, do beware of over-optimistic flywheel hp estimates which are simply based on rear wheel hp figures.

These two links may be helpful:

http://www.pumaracing.co.uk/POWER3.htm

Regardless of the above, I am sure that bigbob's engine is producing some pretty impressive flywheel hp and torque.

Nice work Bob. A lot going on in your engine bay. Did you have to modify the inner guard for the supercharger?

Its a very tight fit, but no mods were needed to inner wings. If the bonnet wasn't propped up to aid cooling, it would close with only a slight bulge needed to clear the hose off the top of supercharger. I am thinking of losing the stripes & badges & putting it back in stealth mode to suprise people.

Even in stealth mode wouldn't it still surprise people?

Just change the pulley for extra boost... tyres may be an issue though :)

Bob,

Lack of real interest and so was postponed, with a date in the future yet to be agreed.

I'll put your name down as an interested party 8)
