Sunbeam Tiger Real Ale

Post by richard.allen » Mon May 23, 2011 1:11 pm

I am new to the forum, although I have been a member of STOC for a number of years.

I went to my local pub last night to find Sunbeam Tiger Real Ale on sale - http://www.cottagebrewing.co.uk/specials.html

Not a bad pint of beer ...

Sunbeam Tiger Real Ale

Post by gvickery » Mon May 23, 2011 3:13 pm

Richard, what a find. Everards 'Tiger' best bitter is one thing but 'Sunbeam Tiger' ale...that is very special! And great to have the marque feted by a beer maker that also brews the "Supreme Champion Beer of Britain".

Think the Club should arrange a driving tour to Castle Cary, Somerset, pronto!

Sounds like a good excuse for a jaunt, although quite a trek from East Anglia!

Sounds like a good idea, plus it is a lot nearer than Swanage for me.
Where do I sign?

Remember that drinking & driving is not wise.
It might spill when you go around a corner!

Bad news I'm afraid regarding a visit to the brewery.

This is the reply from Cottage Brewing Company.

"This year we are brewing seasonal ales named after classic cars and
Sunbeam Tiger is the name for one of these beers.

Unfortunately due to Health & Safety rules we can no longer offer
brewery visits".

That elf gets everywhere doesn't he?

Sunbeam Tiger Real Ale

That's spoiled a nice idea. The brewery also say they only ship Sunbeam Tiger ale in barrels to pubs. Now waiting for a list of them!

Sunbeam Tiger Ale

Post by gvickery » Thu Jun 09, 2011 9:40 am

Reporting in from near Weymouth where I hope to sup a pint or two of Sunbeam Tiger ale at The Globe pub this lunchtime!

'Last chance saloon' because the brewery tell me it is only a seasonal ale and the last batch was made and dispatched two weeks ago!!

But good to hear from various sources that it has been a guest ale in several London pubs and elsewhere.

Suitable photographic evidence will be posted... if successful!!

If they sell it in bottles, I think a crate of it making it's way to the National would not be a bad thing . :D

If they brew it again next year I can order a barrel in.

I will call and ask them if it is in their plans.

Right the Cottage Brewing Company will definitely be brewing more Sunbeam Tiger ale next year and it is very likely they will be brewing another batch later this year.

I have this morning set up an account with them and have already ordered in their Sprite ale as a guest beer for this weekend so we will see what that is like.....
